10 Things That Make Me Happy

I was recently inspired by one of inthefrow's newest videos which made me really think about the little things that make me happy.

1. Clean Sheets
This one must be a favourite out there for everyone and its by far one of my all time favourite things about life as a whole. Some may say that makes me a rather sheltered individual but there is definitely something so very comforting and snuggly about beautifully fresh, clean bed sheets to wrap up into. They seem to give me a better nights sleep and perhaps this is just because it relaxes me more when I get into bed. I've continued to use the fabric softener and washing detergents that my Mum used when I lived at home and I think this also helps me to feel safe and comfortable with its nostalgic scent.

2. Coffee and Biscuits
Biscuits have always been a major comfort food for me. Before I moved out, my family were always on at me for demolishing yet another packet but biscuits are one of my favourite snacks ever. You name it, Party Rings, bourbons, ginger nuts - I'll take them all! They also go perfectly in hand with a milky cup of coffee in my favourite mug.

3. My Family
I moved out from home when I was 19, I came back after that for a year then moved out again on my own when I was 21. It was from here that my relationship with each of my family members changed because we weren't there clashing all the time. My Mum especially, we get along so much better now we live apart because we're just too similar. I always make sure I ring both my Nana's a couple of times a week for a little catch up (they all live back in Nottingham so I don't visit as much as I would like) and I love spending time with my family now more than I ever have.

4. Books
Books give us the chance to experience another world, escape if we need to and let our imaginations run free. The feeling of finishing a book is one of the very best and sometimes even disappointing simply because its come to an end. I don't read anywhere near as much as I used to and it often saddens me that I don't or can't find the time. I try to carry one in my bag at all times now so even if I get a spare 5 minutes, even in the doctors waiting room, I can spend my time experiencing something decent rather than stare at a wall full of depressing posters.

5. House Plants
House plants are very important pieces of decor in the Woolley household, not just because they look pretty, but its been proven its healthier for us to have life in our rooms. We have a little collection including bonsais, aloe vera and bamboo plants in our apartment and they really do brighten up the place with their vibrant green leaves.

6. Cosy Nights In
I've always preferred to stay in rather than go out into a busy, loud party atmosphere and luckily, I married someone who shares this love for staying in watching a good film with tasty food and a pudding. There is something about snuggling up under a blanket with some candles glowing in the background that I adore and is without a doubt one of my favourite things to do.

7. Crafts and DIY
I'm always hand making our Llama Talks cards and other little bits like our stickers, but sometimes I get the urge to try something completely different. Recently I made a decoupage unicorn head mount which I'm writing a post about which will hopefully be up soon and I've also transformed a grotesque gold filigree mirror into a wonderful white shabby chic version. It looks so much better and I can't wait to hang it up.

8. Autumn
This is my favourite time of year for many reasons. I love the colours and the need for thick jumpers and fluffy socks. I'm also very much looking forward to Pumpkin Spices Lattes which take me right back to my trip to Disneyland in 2014 with James. They make me feel like I'm back on Main Street USA listening to the parade and raiding the gift shops. Lets not forget the gorgeous dark lipstick shades, I'm a huge fan of purple tones and I can't wait to start wearing them more.

9. My Best Friend
I've known my best friend for nearly 4 years now and we met at work. We couldn't be more opposite characters yet we share so much in common. We also share a birthday and we always do something special together whether its a shopping trip or a night in eating rubbish, but we always have so much fun and I'm very excited for this years celebrations. We're thinking of treating ourselves to a spa day which neither of us have ever done and I can't wait!

10. Pampering
Like every girl, theres nothing better than having a pamper evening when you need it most. I used to be really good at treating myself once a week to a good going over but I seem to have slacked in the past couple of years. Hopefully this'll be rekindled once we have a bath as a lot of the pamper love came from Lush bath bombs. Only having a shower has limited me but its also forced me to try other products I may not have ever even picked up. I love painting my nails, having a hair and face mask on and slapping on a generous helping of body butter.

Life can seem so much brighter once we stop to think about the many little things that make us smile and I'm really glad I took the time to think about them properly.
Let me know in the comments what makes you happy!
